ABOUT ELDRID
Norwegian soprano Eldrid Gorset, now based in Oslo, is recognised for her vivid stage presence and stylistic versatility, shaped by a background in dance and theatre. Forthcoming and recent highlights include Ciril (Nattfolket) for Bergen Nasjonale Opera, Eurydice (Orpheus in the Underworld) at The Norwegian Opera & Ballet, the title role in Kraus’ Proserpin with Vaasa Baroque, and Abele in Leonardo Leo’s La morte di Abele at Festival Retz.
She drew wide attention in 2023 with a highly praised, last-minute jump-in as Despina in the Norwegian Opera’s new production of Così fan tutte. From 2021 to 2023, Eldrid was a member of the Royal Danish Opera’s Young Artist Ensemble, debuting as Musetta (La bohème) and later singing Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Clorinda (La Cenerentola), Frasquita (Carmen), and Despina on national tour.
A committed concert artist, she has appeared with leading Scandinavian ensembles in repertoire ranging from Handel’s Messiah to Carmina Burana. Eldrid is a graduate of the Opera Academy in Oslo and a co-founder of the innovative company Skeive Stemmer.
