Matilda Sterby sings Donna Anna in Don Giovanni for Malmö Opera

Swedish soprano Matilda Sterby makes her Malmö Opera debut as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni on the 7th October 2023. The production is directed by Paul-Émile Fourny with revival directors Anselmi Hirvonen, Hillevi Björnsson och Ylva Kihlberg, and the conductor is Wolfgang Wengeroth.

Matilda previously sung the role in her examination production for the Stockholm University of Arts at Wermland Opera in 2019.

Matilda Sterby, with her radiant lyric soprano voice and totally committed acting, is at the forefront of the new generation of Swedish singers, and has already appeared at houses such as Gothenburg Opera, Hannover Staatsoper, and Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe in roles such as Contessa, Marenka, Mimi and Micaëla.

She also won the 2022 Hjördis Schymberg Award in Sweden. Later this season she has her debut for Volksoper Vienna as Magda in Puccini’s La Rondine.
