ABOUT MEETA

Meeta is a dramatic soprano whose career is defined by vocal authority, stylistic range, and a strong dramatic instinct. Recent and current engagements include her role debut as Turandot for Instant Opera (UK), Eva Wagner/Anna Chamberlain in Dorman’s Wahnfried for Longborough Festival Opera, Opera at the Movies concerts with Welsh National Opera, Bianca/Gabriella in La rondine for Opernhaus Zürich, and Gertrude in Hänsel und Gretel for Opera Holland Park. With Welsh National Opera she has also recently sung Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), and Kadra in Will Todd’s Migrations, as well as Eshal in Mohammed Fairouz’s Al Wasl at Dubai Opera.

Her repertoire includes Leonora (Il trovatore) for Zomeropera Alden Biesen and Ópera de Oviedo, Nedda (I pagliacci) for Welsh National Opera, Serena (Porgy and Bess) at the Kazan Opera Theatre and Shalyapin Festival, and the title role in Holst’s Savitri for the Leeds Opera Festival. She has appeared in Anthony Minghella’s production of Madama Butterfly for both English National Opera and Welsh National Opera, and has covered principal roles at the Royal Opera House.

Meeta trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Academy of Music, and the National Opera Studio. She was a Grand Finalist at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World and winner of the Dame Eva Turner Prize for “a soprano with dramatic potential,” and has appeared widely on UK television and radio.
